 As a registered yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance, you are required to complete 45 hours of Continuing Education every three years. To support your ongoing growth and development as a teacher, we offer approximately ten continuing education sessions each year. As a certified Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider (YACEP), all our programs are designed to fulfill your YACEP requirements and enhance your teaching expertise.

Yoga Anatomy & Physiology Course Details

Day 1 Understanding Movement, Spine, and the Nervous System

27 June 2025, 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM

On Day 1, we’ll dive into the foundational concepts of anatomy and physiology that every yoga teacher should understand. This session will cover:

  • Planes of Movement: Learn the basic planes of movement in the body and how they relate to yoga poses.
  • Spinal Anatomy and Movement: Explore the structure and function of the spine, and how spinal health affects yoga practice.
  • The Nervous System and Yoga: Understand the role of the nervous system in movement and relaxation, and how to apply this knowledge in your teaching.

By the end of Day 1, you’ll have a deeper understanding of how the body moves and how to guide your students in a safe and effective practice. This knowledge will lay the groundwork for the rest of the course, allowing you to bring more insight and precision to your teaching.

Day 2 Skeletal & Muscular Systems in Yoga

28 June 2025, 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM

On Day 2, we’ll explore the key components of the skeletal and muscular systems and their relationship to yoga practice. This session will cover:

  • Skeletal System in Yoga: Understand the structure of bones, joints, and the importance of skeletal alignment in various yoga postures.
  • Muscular System in Yoga: Learn how muscles work to create movement and stability in the body, and how to engage and stretch muscles safely during your practice.

By the end of Day 2, you’ll have a clearer understanding of how to work with the body’s bones and muscles to create a balanced, effective practice for yourself and your students.

Breath, Fascia, Functional Anatomy & Injury Prevention

29 June 2025, 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM

On Day 3, we’ll explore how the body functions during yoga practice and how to integrate anatomical knowledge into your teaching. This session will cover:

  • Breath and the Respiratory System: Understand the role of the respiratory system in yoga and how breath influences movement and relaxation.
  • Fascia: Learn about the connective tissue that surrounds muscles, bones, and organs, and how it impacts flexibility and mobility in yoga.
  • Functional Anatomy in Sequencing: Discover how to apply anatomical principles to create safe, effective, and well-balanced yoga sequences.
  • Injury Prevention in Yoga: Learn practical strategies for preventing injuries and supporting students in maintaining a safe practice.
  • Integration of Anatomy into Yoga Practice: Learn how to incorporate anatomical insights into your personal practice and teaching for deeper awareness and safety.
  • Practical Q&A: Wrap up the day with a practical Q&A session to clarify any questions and deepen your understanding of how to apply what you’ve learned.

By the end of Day 3, you’ll be equipped with the tools to prevent injury, design thoughtful sequences, and teach with a deeper anatomical awareness.
